#EPL: Chelsea’s Pochettino Era Begins with a Draw Against Liverpool

Chelsea opened their Premier League season with a 1-1 draw against Liverpool, extending their streak of seven consecutive competitive matches against each other ending in a tie.

Amid ongoing transfer talk, both Chelsea and Liverpool began a new Premier League campaign aiming for success. In the early minutes,

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah set up Luis Díaz for a goal. Salah continued to threaten and had an offside goal that was disqualified after VAR review.

Chelsea’s defense struggled initially, but debutant Axel Disasi scored from a header by Ben Chilwell. Despite Chilwell’s disallowed goal and Nicolas Jackson’s missed chance, the first half ended level.

The match remained lively, with both teams pushing for a winning goal in the second half. Virgil van Dijk and Chilwell had close attempts, and Chelsea dominated possession.

Yet the game ended without further goals. Darwin Núñez’s effort almost found the net, but the match concluded in a draw.

Mauricio Pochettino’s first Premier League game as Chelsea’s manager resulted in an avoidable defeat. Meanwhile, Liverpool’s unbeaten record in season openers extended to 11 campaigns.
