Champions League: Real Madrid Confirms David Alaba’s Absence Against Napoli, Releases Team List

Real Madrid has officially ruled out David Alaba in the next UEFA Champions League match against Napoli in Italy.

The Spanish team has confirmed this as a result of Alaba’s injury. Dailystand.ng recalls that the Madrid defender suffered an injury last Wednesday against Las Palmas.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for the second Champions League group stage match will not include Alaba, despite initial hopes of his recovery in time for the Napoli encounter.

To address the shortage of central defenders, Ancelotti has once again entrusted Castilla’s Álvaro Carrillo, who had previously been on the bench but did not see any playing time.

Carrillo’s presence is of paramount importance as Real Madrid prepares for the upcoming league match against Osasuna.

In this forthcoming game, Ancelotti may find himself with just Rüdiger as the only central defender for the first team.

This situation arises due to Alaba’s injury and the anticipated suspension of Nacho following a contentious tackle during last Saturday’s match.

The complete squad list for Real Madrid:

Goalkeepers: Lunin, Kepa, Cañizares.

Defenders: Carvajal, Nacho, Lucas Vázquez, Fran García, Rüdiger, Mendy, Carrillo.

Midfielders: Bellingham, Kroos, Modric, Camavinga, Valverde, Tchouameni, Ceballos.

Forwards: Vinicius, Rodrygo, Joselu, Brahim.
