According to the reports, the Ogun State House of Assembly ousted Speaker Olakunle Oluomo due to alleged gross misconduct.

The assembly unanimously voted for his removal during Tuesday’s plenary session, with 18 out of 36 members supporting the impeachment.

The charges against Oluomo included embezzlement, haughtiness, and other offenses, as reported by the Nation.

Oludaisi Elemide was appointed as the new speaker. Oluomo had previously faced arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in 2022 for alleged financial crimes.

He was released on administrative bail, contingent on returning to the EFCC head office with the assembly clerk and the accountant.
