Peter Obi Reacts to Zaria Mosque Disaster

The Labour Party’s Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential election candidate, responded to the tragic event at Zaria Central Mosque in Kaduna State. The incident, which occurred on Friday evening, led to four deaths and seven injuries.

Taking to his verified Twitter account, Obi expressed sympathy for the deceased and prayed for their souls to find peace in paradise. He also showed solidarity with Zaria and Kaduna State residents.

In heartfelt words, Obi shared, “With deep sadness, I read about the death of our compatriots in Zaria who were worshipping at the Zaria Central Mosque for Asr prayers on Friday when a wall collapsed on them. May Allah forgive the deceased all their sins and grant them Aljanna.

“May the injured be healed quickly. Finally, I commiserate with the families of the deceased, and the good people of Zaria Emirate and Kaduna State over this tragic incident.”

The Emir of Zazzau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, revealed that the tragedy struck during the Asr prayer around 4 p.m. He mentioned that a crack in the mosque’s wall had been noticed earlier and that repair plans were underway. The monarch extended his sympathies to the victims’ families and urged people to pray outside the mosque while repairs are made.
