Oyo APC Reschedules Primary Election Dates Ahead of LG Poll
The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has changed the dates for its primary election ahead of the upcoming local government election.
Daily Stand Nigeria recalls that the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) had initially set April next year for the local government election.
However, the APC recently adjusted the schedule for its primary involving chairmanship and councilorship candidates.
New Date
Several expressions of interest prompted this modification. According to a statement by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the primary originally planned for this Thursday will now take place on Friday (August 25) and Monday (August 28).
“The schedule of the party primary will now be split into two and we have picked this Friday to conduct the exercise in all the Wards and LGAs in both Oyo Central and Oyo North Senatorial districts, while the turn of the 99 Wards and nine local government councils in Oyo South will be Monday next week.
“Reports submitted by the screening committees established that we have competent aspirants in all the 351 Wards and 33 LGAs; this indicates that APC remains the most popular party in the State,” he said.
