EPL: Brighton considers hiring newly promoted Ipswich Town coach

The English club Brighton must find a new coach ahead of next season. The Telegraph reported that Brighton is considering hiring Kieran McKenna from Ipswich Town.

On Saturday afternoon, Brighton & Hove Albion announced they parted ways with current coach Roberto De Zerbi.

De Zerbi will end his time at the Amex Stadium with a match against Manchester United after nearly two years of work.

The 44-year-old’s manager’s plans are not yet known but reports reveal about his possible replacement.

The Telegraph reported that McKenna could replace De Zerbi as Brighton’s coach.

McKenna, 38, currently coaches Ipswich Town. He led them to promotion to the Premier League this season.

A year earlier, he guided the team’s promotion from League One to the Championship.

McKenna’s work at Portman Road impressed not only Brighton but also some Manchester United fans who consider him a candidate for their next manager.

Ipswich Town is McKenna’s first job as a head coach. He previously worked as an assistant coach at Manchester United and with their youth teams.

He joined Ipswich in December 2021. So far, he managed them in 131 matches, winning 76 games. He finished the current season in 2nd place behind Leicester with 96 points.
