FIFA Rankings: Nigeria’s Super Eagles end 2023 as 6th in Africa and 42nd globally

The Super Eagles of Nigeria concluded 2023 as Africa’s sixth-best team and ranked 42nd globally in the latest FIFA monthly standings.

The Nigeria national team had just one loss but achieved four victories and three draws throughout 2023.

Morocco maintained their top position in Africa and was 13th globally, while Senegal, holding onto 20th place worldwide, secured the second spot in Africa.

Tunisia retained their position as the third-best team in Africa and 28th globally in the current rankings.

However, Algeria and Egypt, both contenders in the top five in Africa, concluded the year in the 30th and 33rd positions in the world, respectively.

World champions Argentina remained at the pinnacle of the global ranking following their 1-0 victory over Brazil in the previous month’s World Cup qualifier.

France secured the second spot, followed by England, Belgium, and Brazil in the top five.

Holland, Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Croatia complete the roster of the world’s top 10 teams.

The next FIFA ranking is scheduled to be released on February 15, 2024.
