CAF Champions League: Penalty Shootout Ends Remo Stars’ Journey

Remo Stars are out of the CAF Champions League after losing a penalty shootout 3-2 against Ghana’s Medeama SC. The team led by Daniel Ogunmodede won the second leg of the preliminary round contest with a 1-0 score.

During the match, Medeama SC’s goalkeeper accidentally pushed the ball into his own net from a corner kick, giving Remo Stars the lead in the 72nd minute. Despite Samuel Anakwe’s attempt to secure the win with a goal in stoppage time, the goal was disallowed due to offside.

Since the aggregate score was tied at 1-1 after 90 minutes, the game proceeded to a penalty shootout. In the shootout, Medeama SC emerged victorious by netting three penalties, while Remo Stars managed to convert two.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s other representative in the CAF Champions League, Enyimba, also faced elimination on the same day. Enyimba lost by an aggregate score of 4-3 to Al-Ahly Benghazi from Libya.
