Lewandowski and Flick

Barcelona authorities consider Hansi Flick as Xavi’s successor. Here is why it can be a turnaround for Lewandowski

Catalan Sport recently reported that Hansi Flick will replace Xavi as Barcelona’s coach. This change may benefit Robert Lewandowski.

The last few weeks of Barça have been a real roller-coaster. Recently, Joan Laporta, Deco, and Xavi held a press conference to announce their continued cooperation. Now, it seems that Xavi will be dismissed, and Hansi Flick will take over.

Florian Plettenberg from Sky Sport claims that Barcelona officials see Flick as the best candidate. Catalan Sport mentions ongoing talks between Barcelona and Flick for a two-year contract. An official announcement from the club is expected soon.

This coaching change could be positive for Robert Lewandowski, who thrived under Flick at Bayern Munich from 2019-2021. During their time together, Lewandowski played 71 matches, scored 83 goals, and provided 22 assists, breaking Gerd Mueller’s record.

Flick effectively makes use of Lewandowski’s ability at Bayern and will likely do the same at Barcelona. This could help Lewandowski improve his performance in La Liga.

Under Xavi, Lewandowski has played 94 matches, scored 58 goals, and provided 17 assists. While these numbers are lower, Lewandowski’s age must also be considered.
