APC Chieftain Urges President Tinubu to Consider Ministerial Nominee From Kaduna South/Central
Former Kaduna State APC caucus chairman Ahmed Tijjani Ramalan urges President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to select a ministerial nominee from Kaduna Central or Kaduna South to replace former governor Nasir El-Rufai, aiming for inclusiveness.
In an open letter to President Bola Tinubu on Sunday, Ramalan called for a fair distribution of political roles in the state, highlighting the concentration of power in one zone that affects the APC’s performance.
“The ministerial position should go to Zone 2 or Zone 3, where persons and politicians of high calibre are well placed to take such a position in view that both El-Rufai and Governor Uba Sani are from Zone 1.”
Before 2015, equity prevailed, with the governor from Zone 1 and the deputy from the 2nd or 3rd senatorial zone.
The ministerial position typically balanced the representation. This ensured all zones had a say in state and federal matters.
Speculation surrounds El-Rufai’s absence from the ministerial list; there are claims of pushing for Jaafaru Sani, from Zone 1, as his replacement.
Ramalan cautions President Tinubu, emphasizing the APC’s unity and the importance of Zone 3’s inclusion for party success and peace in Kaduna.
