Samuel Chukwueze recently joined AC Milan from Villarreal, where he spent the past seven years and secured the Europa League title in 2021.

In an interview with Soccernet.ng, Samuel Chukwueze shared that his primary motive for joining AC Milan was to secure championship titles.

The 24-year-old Nigerian player made the transfer from LA Liga’s Villarreal last month, after extensive negotiations between the two clubs. Villarreal initially asked for £35 million, but Milan’s initial £20 million offer was turned down. Eventually, they settled on a £28 million deal.

Chukwueze made his debut during the final moments of the 1-1 Trofeo Berlusconi match against Monza, which Milan won on penalties. He expressed his admiration for Milan’s fans and their constant communication through Instagram, noting their excitement about his arrival.

Chukwueze emphasized the significance of his conversation with Coach Pioli in his decision to join Milan. He praised Pioli’s clear tactical vision and motivation, underscoring that the coach’s project was a pivotal factor in his choice.

Looking ahead, Chukwueze believes Milan has the capability to defeat top Serie A competitors like Inter and Juventus. He expressed his determination to contribute to Milan’s success and cement his legacy with the club.

Addressing his friendship with Victor Osimhen, Chukwueze revealed that his Super Eagles teammate had encouraged him to move to Italy and assured him of Milan’s prominence. Osimhen’s guidance and support played a role in Chukwueze’s decision-making process.

Chukwueze jokingly mentioned that Osimhen suggested Napoli sign him, but he chose AC Milan instead. He looked forward to the prospect of facing Napoli in matches.

The talented winger could potentially make his competitive debut for Milan on August 21st, when they play Bologna in the opening game of the Serie A season.
