Super Falcons Forward Makes History as First African Sportswoman to Hit a Million on Instagram

Nigeria’s Super Falcons forward, Asisat Oshoala, shines both on and off the field. She recently achieved a major milestone on social media and in the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup, FIFAWWC, leading her team, the Super Falcons, to an impressive performance.

Competing in Group B, also known as the ‘Group of Death’, Nigeria faced tough opponents including Canada, the Republic of Ireland, and co-hosts Australia. Despite the challenges, Oshoala, a key player for Barcelona Femeni, showcased her skill and proved her standing as one of Africa’s best.

Oshoala’s contribution made history during the ninth Women’s World Cup. In a crucial match against co-hosts Australia, she came off the bench to lead the Super Falcons to a thrilling 3-2 victory, scoring the winning goal.

This achievement not only secured a place for Nigeria in the round of 16 but also established her as the only African player to score in three separate FIFAWWC events.

Despite a valiant effort against European Champions England in the round of 16, Nigeria’s journey in the tournament ended.

However, Oshoala’s success extended beyond the field. She became the first African sportswoman to achieve one million followers on Instagram. In response, she expressed her gratitude with a simple “Thank you” message to her fans and followers.

Oshoala, known as Agba Baller,’ continues to leave her mark, excelling in soccer and capturing hearts both in the game and on social media.
