Interior Minister: 60,000 Passport Backlogs Cleared in 4 Days

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced that 60,000 passport backlogs were resolved in just four working days.

This significant achievement was disclosed by Tunji-Ojo during a meeting with Beta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, as stated by his Media Adviser, Babatunde Alao, on Tuesday.

Tunji-Ojo emphasized the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to tackle the country’s challenges.

He reported, “As of this morning, I can tell you that about 60,000 passport backlogs have been cleared, especially 59,906.”

He further explained, “On Wednesday, September 6, when I gave the two-week ultimatum, we had over 200,000 backlogs. We have recorded progress, and I keep my word that those backlogs must be cleared.”

Daily Stand Nigeria recalls that last Thursday, the minister directed the Nigeria Immigration Service to prioritize and clear all pending passport applications. This accomplishment marks a significant step in addressing the passport backlog issue.
