Ndume Accuses ‘Lagos Boys’ of Misleading Tinubu on CBN, FAAN Relocation

Senator Ali Ndume, the Senator representing Borno South Senatorial has faulted President Bola Tinubu’s planned relocation of certain federal government ministries to Lagos on Tuesday.

Daily Stand Nigeria recalls that Mr. President recently announced the relocation of the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria departments from Abuja to Lagos.

Speaking during an interview with Channels Television, Ndume said Tinubu is being misinformed by “political cartels” and “Lagos boys” to make wrong decisions about moving the financial regulators away from the nation’s capital.

Ndume warned the relocations will have political consequences as Abuja remains the sole federal capital.

Some targeted CBN departments include Banking Supervision, Other Financial Institutions Supervision, Consumer Protection, and Payment Systems Management.

FAAN on the other hand said the relocation will curb waste of public resources.

The Arewa Consultative Forum rejected the decision as a deliberate ploy to underdevelop northern Nigeria.

Ndume said he is confident Tinubu will reverse the relocations. “You can’t have two capitals,” Ndume said.
