Wayne Rooney: Manchester United need to build the team around him
Manchester United may make personnel changes in the summer transfer window. Former Manchester United player, Wayne Rooney, in an interview with “Sky Sports” believes that the “Red Devils” should build a squad around Bruno Fernandes.
The current season has been a complete failure for Manchester United. The “Red Devils” can therefore make a significant change in the squad in the summer transfer window.
Recent media reports suggested that Bruno Fernandes may leave the team. The Portuguese representative is of interest to Bayern Munich and Saudi teams.
Wayne Rooney in “Sky Sports” discussed the restructuring of the Manchester United squad and Bruno Fernandes. The Red Devils legend believes that the Old Trafford authorities should build the squad around the captain, Fernandes. The former English footballer also commented on Marcus Rashford.
“We need to build a team around Bruno. He has quality, he has a fighting spirit and if we have to get rid of anyone, it’s other players. We have to stop the youth and Bruno. I think there needs to be a big purge. This must happen. It won’t happen in one year, but I think it will happen in the next few years – said Wayne Rooney, quoted by “DevilPage”.
“We all know that Marcus has the skills to play at the highest level. We didn’t see it. I wonder if it’s time for Marcus to leave and play somewhere else. I think he needs to answer this question. I would like him to stay and break records at Manchester United. He has to work hard and keep his head down, admitted the Englishman.
