Ooni of Ife Welcomes Twins, Olori Tobiloba to Palace Five Months After Birth
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has welcomed his twin children into the palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State. This happened five months after their birth. The twins were born to Olori Tobiloba Ogunwusi. They were brought to the palace in a ceremony with drumming and dancing. This was shown in a live video on Sunday. Senior chiefs presented the twins to the Ooni, with songs of praise in the background.
Daily Stand recalls that Ooni shared the news on March 16, 2024 on his Facebook page, expressing gratitude to God for the safe delivery. He wrote, “To God be the glory; great things He has done. Hearty congratulations to the entire House of Oduduwa and Olori Tobiloba, who today birthed a prince and princess to the royal throne of Oduduwa. Mother and children are doing well to the glory of God Almighty.” The post included a photo of the Ooni with Olori Tobiloba and the newborns.
For five months, the twins and their mother lived outside the palace. On Sunday, a live video was posted on the Facebook page of the Ooni’s private secretary, Adetoyese Adewale. The video showed Olori Tobiloba and the twins being welcomed into the palace with drumming and dancing.
In the video, Obalufe of Ife, Oba Idowu Adediwura, received the twins from Olori Tobiloba. Lowa of Ife, Oba Adekola Adeyeye, was also present. The two chiefs then presented the babies to the Ooni, who was seated and waiting.
As the ceremony continued, songs praising the Ooni and his twins were heard, while guests watched from under canopies. The event marks a new chapter as the twins now take their place in the royal palace of Ile-Ife.
