James Maddison Out of England Squad Due to Injury

Tottenham have confirmed that James Maddison has withdrawn from the England squad for next week’s fixtures.

Gareth Southgate’s side have already qualified ahead of concluding their campaign against Malta and North Macedonia.

Maddison was surprisingly named in the squad despite limping out in the first half of Spurs’ loss to Chelsea on Monday night through an ankle injury.

But he will remain in north London for further treatment with the Tottenham medical staff.

Gareth Southgate hinted during Thursday’s squad announcement that Maddison may not be the only player to pull out due to fitness concerns.

Bukayo Saka and Callum Wilson are also carrying knocks.
