Nigeria’s Ola Aina became the first defender to reach a century of points in the Fantasy Premier League, FPL, this season.

Nigeria and Super Eagles’ Ola Aina has made history by becoming the first defender to surpass 100 points in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) this season.

The achievement was celebrated by the official FPL social media account following Aina’s standout performance during Nottingham Forest’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Southampton.

In the match, Aina played a crucial role, assisting teammate Chris Wood for the third goal and making a vital goal-line clearance to secure the win against a resilient Southampton side.

His contributions not only helped his team maintain their impressive form this season but also earned him four points for Gameweek 22, bringing his total to 101 points—the highest among defenders in the league.

The FPL acknowledged Aina’s remarkable feat with a post on their X account, stating, “The first defender to reach 100 points this season @NFFC’s Ola Aina is having an excellent season.”

Fans quickly took to the comments section to celebrate his achievement, with some dubbing him the “Mo Salah of defenders” and others proclaiming him “the best defender in the world.”

With his impressive total, Aina ranks as the 14th highest-scoring player overall in FPL this season.

He joins his Super Eagles teammate Alex Iwobi, who has accumulated 103 points, as one of only two Nigerians in the top 15 players.

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles defender provided an interesting insight into what happened between Forest and Southampton.

He shared his thoughts on social media, posting, “Our bom boms almost went, fak,” alongside a celebratory video on his Snapchat.
