Samuel Chukwueze

AFCON: NFF grants AC Milan’s request for Chukwueze to arrive at Super Eagles camp late

  • Samuel Chukwueze’s late arrival to the Super Eagles camp for AFCON 2023 was due to AC Milan’s request for his availability in the Coppa Italia clash on January 2.
  • The Super Eagles will begin their camp in Abu Dhabi on January 2, with all 25 players, except Chukwueze, mandated to report on that date.
  • AC Milan’s request to keep midfielder Ismael Bennacer for the Coppa Italia clash against Cagliari on January 2 was turned down by the Algerian Football Federation.

According to the information gathered, the reason was due to AC Milan’s request for the Eagles winger to participate in the Coppa Italia match against Cagliari on January 2, which the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) granted.

The changes allow Chukwueze to take part in AC Milan’s game before reporting to the Super Eagles camp in Abu Dhabi on January 3, as confirmed by Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

Similarly, the Algerian Football Federation declined AC Milan’s request for midfielder Ismael Bennacer for the same match.

Samuel Chukwueze is set to join the Super Eagles‘ 2023 Africa Cup of Nations camp a day later than scheduled.
