Minister of Power warns against opposition to power sector advancement

Adebayo Adelabu

Chief Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, stated that certain Nigerians don’t want the Nigeria power sector to work because of their own self-interest.

Adelabu made the statement during the commissioning of the 63 MVA, 132/33kV mobile station in Ajah, Lagos State.

He noted that despite expecting opposition and diversions, Nigerians will begin to notice the profound effects once certain TCN projects are completed.

He said;

“We have had over 40 ministers in the past and we are still here, we know there will be resistance and distractions but Nigerians will start seeing our overwhelming impact the moment we complete the TCN projects.

“Nigerians should not be cheated and that is why I don’t call this new tariff cost-reflective but service reflective.”

The Minister emphasized that all discos must provide 20 to 24 hours of electricity before charging N225 per kilowatt-hour, threatening heavy fines for non-compliance.
