PSG with Mbappe

PSG more successful after Mbappé? Achraf Hakimi responds bluntly

A friend of Kylian Mbappé, Achraf Hakimi gave his opinion on PSG’s performances since the French star left.

Paris Saint-Germain have been doing well since Kylian Mbappé left. The Parisian club struggled in their two preseason games against Sturm Graz (2-2) and RB Leipzig (1-1). But the French champions have been doing well since the league resumed.

Mbappé and PSG’s confusing relationship

The story has come to an end between Paris Saint-Germain and the club’s all-time leading scorer, Kylian Mbappé. Having reached the end of his contract this summer, the former AS Monaco striker officially announced his departure from PSG last May. A little over two weeks later, Real Madrid made the signing of the French team captain official. Since then, relations have been strained between the new Madrid recruit and his former club.

If he had formally notified PSG to claim his dues last June, the Bondynois would have gone far recently. Le Monde reported at the beginning of this week that Mbappé had contacted the LFP and UEFA through the FFF to be in possession of his salaries and bonuses “unpaid” by the Parisian club. But Paris claims to have received “no notification” on the subject. Finally, the two parties decided to do things discreetly to find common ground. The entourage of the Parisian president does not believe Mbappé is capable of pulling such a stunt on his former club.

PSG without Mbappé, Hakimi talks about it

For now, the departure of the former leader of the Parisian club has not yet had any impact on PSG. If the two pre-season outings left doubt, the opposite has been observed since the start of the championship. For its first Ligue 1 match, PSG took the upper hand with difficulty over Le Havre (1-4) at the Stade Océane. As for the second day, it was a treat for the French champions.

Hosting Montpellier at the Parc des Princes this Friday, in the opening of the second day, PSG thrashed the Héraultais by winning by a score of 6-0. Obviously, the absence of Kylian Mbappé is far from being felt in the PSG squad. Asked about the XXL performances of the Ile-de-France club despite the departure of Mbappé, Achraf Hakimi did not want to talk about it too much. “No, you are looking for controversy,” the Moroccan defender simply replied with a laugh.

It should be remembered that the Atlas Lion scored the fourth goal and provided the assist for PSG’s sixth goal against Montpellier on Friday evening at the Parc des Princes.
