Guardiola takes Haaland down a notch: “The most incredible centre forward I have ever seen is Messi”

A hat-trick, four goals in two games this season and 260 official goals at just 24 years old. Erling Haaland’s statistics promise to break all the records that are presented to him, but Pep Guardiola did not hesitate to compare him.

At the press conference after Manchester City’s 4-1 win over Ipswich Town, the Spanish coach was asked by that journalist if Haaland was “the most complete centre-forward we have ever seen in this game”.

Guardiola, with Barça blood and many years of football behind him, did not hesitate when answering. He could have been politically correct but he chose with his heart and answered something he always maintained: “The most incredible centre forward I have seen is Messi. I have never seen anything like that.”
